Is Coco Chanel considered a famous historical figure?

I'm doing a project for my english/history class and we have to pick a quote from a piece of literature or a famous historical figure. I think that Coco Chanel is a famous historical figure but I don't know if other people think that to, so do you consider her a famous historical figure?|||Certainly. She's very famous in the history of couture. If I were your instructor I'd approve the choice.|||Yes I would consider her a famous historical figure. Coco Chanel was a pioneer in French fashion design. She led a colourful life, and during World War 2 she was rumoured to have affairs with German Officers. No matter how short of money she was to finance her business she always managed to find someone to back her. Personally I think you have made a good choice for your project.

Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel, born 19th August 1883 鈥?died 10th January 1971.|||She certainly was - and the bias cut dress was her great achievement - rather risque at the time - she liberated ladies from their corsets. She is no more or less an historic figure than say Henry Ford.

She obtained her perfumery business under aryan lawas when Jewish businesses were confiscated and was supposed to have had involvement with high ranking Nazis. She was arrested for war crimes (and then mysteriously released).

So given her impact on women, her dodgy war career and her global fame, she sounds like an excellent choice. Remember to investigate "Operation Modelhut".
